Applicants must be certified plastic surgeons in Canada or in their country of origin. Applicants who are still in residency must provide a letter of good standing confirming that they will be recognized as a medical specialist by the fellowship start date.
Yes. International Medical Graduates must provide official specialty certification and meet the licensing, language proficiency, and work authorization requirements for clinical fellowship training in Canada.
No. Applicants certified solely in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are not eligible. Candidates must have completed subspecialty training in Plastic Surgery.
Yes. Preference is given to applicants who have completed the United States National Board examinations or the Canadian Licensing Examination / LMCC.
International Medical Graduates whose medical school language of instruction was not English must meet English proficiency requirements.
- TOEFL-iBT: Minimum overall score of 93, with a minimum of 24 in the speaking section.
- TSE and TOEFL (paper/computer-based): Passing scores from prior versions of the TOEFL are also accepted.

Yes. Prospective clinical fellows must be eligible for a Canadian work visa. Applicants should review the University of Toronto PGME fellowship application requirements for details about eligibility, licensing, and work authorization.
Preference may be given to candidates who hold full-time pediatric plastic surgery positions in their home country and are seeking advanced fellowship training.
Yes. International and Canadian applicants may submit an early application request up to 2–3 years before the fellowship start date.

No. An early application request does not bypass the standard application process. The full application must still be completed through the appropriate application pathway.
