Bio

Shannon has been a Nurse Practitioner with the Craniofacial Team since its inception in 2019. She has a passion for education and lifelong learning which started at the University of Waterloo where she completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Co-operative Education in 2007. She continued to pursue her interest in health sciences, completing an Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing at The University of Toronto in 2010.

Shannon’s love of paediatric Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery started with her nursing school paediatric placement at SickKids on 8C, the inpatient Plastic Surgery unit, in 2009. This led to the opportunity to work as a Clinical Extern and then transition into RN on the same unit upon graduation. Shannon served in multiple leadership roles during her RN tenure including RN Council representative, Clinical Support Nurse, preceptor of numerous nursing students and new staff before completing her Masters of Nursing/Nurse Practitioner (Paediatric stream) program at the University of Toronto in 2019. She is the proud recipient of the Grace Evelyn Simpson Reeves Excellence in Nursing Award in 2015, as well as the Betty Cormier Excellence in Nursing Award in 2025 awarded by the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

Shannon has a clinical interest in craniosynostosis, as well as other syndromic and acquired craniofacial conditions that allow her to follow patients from infancy to early adulthood. She is dedicated to patient and caregiver education, process improvement, team collaboration, and optimizing family’s experience within the medical system.
